On Sunday, February 5th at 1100 hrs. the Post will host a commemoration service honoring the Four Chaplains.

These four US Army Chaplains gave their lives so that others would have a chance to survive a sinking ship in the North Atlantic during WW2.
Lieutenants George L. Fox, Methodist ; Alexander D. Goode, Jewish ; Clark V. Poling, Dutch Reformed ; and John P. Washington, Catholic ; exemplified the highest devotion anyone could perform, as they gave up their lifejackets to frightened soldiers as their torpedoed transport sank in frigid seas.
The actions of these men are recalled and honored annually on or near the anniversiry of the sinking on February 3rd, 1943.
The American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars alternate years in presenting the ceremony.
